FISH OIL PRODUCTION

The plants can make their own carbohydrates, amino acids, fatty acids and vitamins from their surrounding supply of nitrogen, carbon dioxide, minerals and solar energy. These are essential for growth, development and function of healthy humans and animals.

When humans and animals eat plants, they can metabolize fatty acids by enzymes into highly unsaturated fatty acids such as Omega-3 and omega-6 acids.

Fish oil is rich in long chain omega-3 fatty acids. EicosaPentaenoic Acid (EPA 20:5 n-3) and DocosaHexaenoic Acid (DHA 22:6 n-3) are the two main long chain highly unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids. They are found most widely in marine environment where they are produced by algae. The algae are eaten by zooplankton. Zooplankton are eaten by fish and as a result fish oil contains EPA and DHA.

Fish oil is produced from small fatty pelagic fish such as anchovy, sardine; trimmings of edible fish, cod liver or other marine resources such as algae, krill etc. in the world. Peru and Chile are the largest producers of fish oil in the world. The quality of fish oil depends on the quality and handling of raw material. The fresher the raw material the fresher will be the end product.
